You can register for alerts/e-mail at almost any journal web page to receive TOCs (Table of Contents) of new issues.

There are also services such as JournalTOCs, a free service where you can discover the newest papers coming directly from the publishers as soon as they have been published online.

Personal accounts in databases

There is often a possibility to register for a free account in different databases to save searches and then receive an e-mail when there are new articles on the subject.
Two examples:
  • MyNCBI in PubMed (save searches and citations in PubMed, personalize filters)
  • My EBSCOHost Account in Unisearch (and other EBSCO databases) Saved searches, search alerts etc.
